Listen up, PopCrush readers! We have the exclusive premiere of ‘Run,’ a song performed by Katharine McPhee in tonight’s episode of the Broadway drama ‘Smash‘ on NBC.

‘Run’ was originally recorded by Snow Patrol in 2004, but McPhee makes the song her own. The Season 5 ‘American Idol‘ runner-up hits some super-low notes in the beginning as the track builds slowly towards an emotional peak as McPhee sings, “Light up, light up / As if you have a choice / Even if you cannot hear my voice / I’ll be right beside you dear / Louder, louder / And we’ll run for our lives / I can hardly speak I understand / Why you can’t raise your voice to say.”

Tonight’s ‘Smash’ episode, called ‘Publicity,’ airs at 10PM ET on NBC. It once again guest stars Uma Thurman, who first appeared in ‘The Movie Star‘ episode to take over the role of Marilyn in the musical. McPhee’s rendition of ‘Run’ can be found only on the deluxe edition of ‘The Music of Smash,’ available at Target starting on May 1.

Listen to the exclusive track below. What do you think of McPhee’s performance on ‘Run?’ And what would you like to see happen on tonight’s ‘Smash’ episode?
