Katy Perry released the dog-themed music video for her latest single, "Small Talk."

The newly unveiled clip, which was directed by Tanu Muino, tells a different story than what fans might have expected from the breakup track that details how two people can go from "strangers to lovers to strangers in a lifetime."

Instead, the music video sees the 34-year-old singer and her real-life toy poodle, Nugget, compete in a dog show called the Mutt Ball. The best part? Perry even cast people who looked like their respective dogs.

Elsewhere in the vid, she meets a handsome man and his pet Weimaraner and the two quickly fall in love and live happily ever after. Even her pup makes a new friend.

Though the visuals for "Small Talk" definitely don't connect to the song's post-breakup lyrics, it does perfectly embody Perry’s vibrant style and 70s aesthetic, which we saw in her previously released single, "Never Really Over." Plus, we're loving the glamourous old Hollywood-esque costumes, hair and makeup.

Earlier this week, the pop star also teased the release of the video by sharing an adorable photo with her pooch on Instagram. “Just some #SmallTalk on #InternationalDogDay with [Nugget],” Perry captioned the shot. “See you at The Mutt Ball, where we make fetch happen."
