‘Kony 2012′ Video Creator Arrested for Drunkenness, Lewd Behavior
The most viral video of all time “Kony 2012″ which took a mere six days to reach 100 million views, was the brainchild of a person obviously passionate about a cause that needed addressing. His mission — to expose the criminal acts on children of Ugandan, Joseph Kony. But now TMZ.com is reporting that Jason Russell the co-creator of the video was arrested last night in San Diego for allegedly being drunk in public and masturbating.
I don’t necessarily think this will derail his mission of making Joseph Kony the most infamous man in the world, it may even help it along. If you haven’t seen the video yet click here to watch it.
TMZ is reporting Russell was arrested yesterday in San Diego for allegedly being drunk in public, making sexual gestures and vandalizing cars. He was reportedly detained and taken to a medical facility for treatment and evaluation.
Invisible Children released this statement following the incident:
Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized yesterday suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition. He is now receiving medical care and is focused on getting better. The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday. Jason’s passion and his work have done so much to help so many, and we are devastated to see him dealing with this personal health issue. We will always love and support Jason, and we ask that you give his entire family privacy during this difficult time.”
