On Monday (January 8), news broke that Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff broke up. And although neither party have specifically addressed the split yet, the Girls creator went to Instagram today (January 9) to post an inspirational, self-love message that could only be about her more-than-five-year-long relationship coming to an end.

The post is simple: a soft pink background with the phrase, "Starting over is the beautiful moment where you choose to love yourself,” written in a deep blue. The photo's caption simply reads, "Forever love."

According to Billboard, Dunham also subtly addressed the situation via her Instagram story by talking about a ring her ex gifted her. “I’ll always wear [it] because love is a really cool, eternal powerful, eternal thing. It doesn’t have to be defined the way we, in Western culture, define it — as beginning and ends. Things can be, ‘You’re a drop of water and you reenter the ocean.’”

The couple broke up in December, after spending more than five years together. A source close to Dunham and Antonoff assures the split was mutual and as clean as a break up can be, stating: "Jack and Lena were growing apart and it just made sense for them to end their relationship where it was,"
