The 2nd Annual Gumbo Zydeco Festival is on November 9, 2024 at the Lufkin VFW at 1800 Ford Chapel Rd from 12 PM - 6 PM. A sizzling head-to-head gumbo cookoff starts the event off.

There will be classic seafood gumbo and local savory chicken and sausage variations to try. This event is presented by the Angelina County Citizens Chamber of Commerce, Pineywoods Trail Ride Association, and LIFE.

According to the Lufkin Daily News, the grand prize is a $500 gift card sponsored by Brookshire Brothers. You can sample gumbo entries, and get a full bowl of your favorite for $5.

Zydeco music was meant to make you want to get up and move. The Zydeco Swing Off dance competition is the place to bring your best dance moves to the floor from 2 PM - 5 PM.

A Creole and Cajun tradition, Zydeco is the heartbeat of Louisiana. This event is a cultural experience, and the music will be performed live by Leon Chavis and the Zydeco Flames from Louisiana sponsored by the Angelina Arts Alliance.
