We typically celebrate July 4 by grilling hot dogs, gathering with friends and family, and shooting off fireworks when the sun goes down to celebrate our nation's birth. This year's Independence Day is especially significant as America celebrates its 250th anniversary, thanks to those men and women who have served our country and to those who have given their lives for our freedom.

This year's celebration and the fireworks shows will be bigger than ever for this monumental milestone in our history.
The City of Longview has announced plans for its annual Fireworks and Freedom Celebration for 2026. The city is marking America's anniversary this year by hosting the biggest fireworks display in East Texas.

What to Expect at the Fireworks and Freedom Celebration
Gather your friends and family and get ready to converge upon the Longview Convention Complex on Saturday, July 4. The festivities will get underway at 6 p.m. There will be live music, family-friendly activities, food trucks, plus a historic pyrotechnic finale. Best of all, it's free to the public.
Entertainment Lineup Includes Contests, Symphony Performance, and Live Music
- A car show showcasing classic and specialty vehicles
- A petting zoo and bubble foam activities will provide fun experiences for children
- Food and local vendors offering a diverse selection of eats and treats
- Special performances by Theatre Longview and ArtsView Children’s Theater
- Interactive fun such as bingo, trivia, coloring contests, and hot dog eating competitions
- An outdoor performance featuring the Longview Symphony Orchestra

A Historic Fireworks Show for America 250
You'll want to bring your lawn chairs and maybe a blanket to spread out on the ground, and don't forget the sunscreen or a battery-operated fan to try to stay cool in the July heat. The fireworks show is expected to begin at 9:30 p.m., which will feature a state-of-the-art display choreographed to celebrate the nation’s milestone 250-year history.
2026 Fireworks and Freedom Celebration organizers say, "We are incredibly excited to bring the community together for this milestone celebration. Marking America's semiquincentennial is a once-in-a-generation event, and we've put together a lineup of music and activities that honors our nation's history while giving Longview families an unforgettable holiday."
Many of the competitions, events, and vendors will be held or set up inside the air-conditioned Maude Cobb Convention Center, giving you a break from the heat.
