Lufkin's Thundering 13 took on Japan for a chance at the Little League World Series Championship Sunday (August 27) in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Lufkin started strong with a first pitch home run from Chandler Spencer. Hunter Ditsworth followed later in the inning with a solo home run to take a 2-0 lead after one inning.

But Japan was too strong for Lufkin as they scored three runs in the second inning, four runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth inning to go up 12-2 and end the game.

Chip Buchanan pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 5 runs with 3 strike outs. Malcolm Deason came pitched the remainder allowing 7 hits and 7 runs with no strike outs.

Japan pitcher, Tsubasa Tomii, pitched a complete game allowing 3 hits and 2 runs with 9 strike outs.

All of East Texas is proud of you boys and congratulations on a phenomenal year.

Throughout their run, they have garnered some serious support throughout the state.

Lufkin native, and San Francisco Giants first baseman, Brandon Belt has been showing his support.
