Mandee About Town — 2016 Year in Review

This past year I had the opportunity to visit some awesome local restaurants and bars in Downtown Tyler, and share with you some of their favorite items.

First, I visited Jack Ryan's Steak and Chop House located in the People's Petroleum Building. We sampled a couple of delicious summer cocktails, and Chef Wes Ebey cooked us up something special, too!

After Jack Ryan's we headed east down Erwin st, and found Downtown Tyler's Sports Zone! Did you realize we have a great sports bar in Downtown, complete with it's own specialty shot? We sure do, and it's a great place to grab a cold beverage and watch the game.

Next, we ventured over to the Black Pearl. Owned and operated by Rick Eltife, who's bar next door, Rick's on the Square, has been a part of Tyler's nightlife for over 20 years. Chef Nathan Frushay fixed us up with so much delicious food we had to share it in two parts!

Finally, in September we ventured over to the East Texas State Fair and sampled some of the fine fair food we've come to expect as Fall begins. I tried my first fried oreos, and was amazed at the deliciousness! I'll be headed back in 2017 for sure!
