Some good news is coming out of Marshall, Texas. The Marshall Independent School District will be offering free breakfast and free lunch to all of their students for the 2019-2020 school year. This blessing is coming their way because of the district’s participation in the National School Lunch Program also known as the NSLP. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a "non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications."

In the past, Marshall ISD has charged for both meals for students. Throughout the past few years, they have offered free breakfast for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Luckily, this new change will make sure that every single student in Marshall ISD will get a free meal for both breakfast and lunch. Marshall ISD will be reimbursed just like Longview ISD has been this past school year.
