Matchbox Twenty have been in the studio working on a new album for a while now and when it's complete, it will be the bands first album in nine years. While hunkering down in the studio cranking out the new album, the band has spent more than $100,000 on wine!

The band has been in Nashville working on the album for a while now and at times instead of concentrating on working on the album, they've spent some time and money getting drunk. Drummer Paul Doucette told: the Hollywood Reporter:

We were hemorrhaging money. No joke, most of it was spent on wine. We just had cases of it.”

"We drank away $100,000 easily," Rob Thomas added.

Rob and the band are working on producing an album that he hopes will become a classic and will be played on radio for years to come. Rob enjoys the fact that songs from their debut album, Yourself Or Someone Like You, like "3 a.m." are still being played on radio stations and that album has been out now for 16 years.

The new album is expected to be released sometime in September and while there's no official title for the album now, Rob says they're considering a simple title like Matchbox Twenty or maybe even $100,000 Bender!
