Matthew McConaughey Not Happy With Longhorn Fans
Everything is not alright alright alright!
I think we can all agree that if we had royals in Texas, Matthew McConaughey would be King! Which is why I think we all need to listen to him when he says "do better".
Over the weekend, No. 5 Georgia upset No. 1 Texas Longhorns 30-15 in Austin that resulted in Texas fans not acting so cool; they ended up throwing a bunch of trash on the field! Now, as someone who doesn't know much about football, I had to do some research; turns out things started to go awry in the third quarter when, according to CNN:
Referees called a pass interference penalty that initially negated an interception and 36-yard return from Longhorns safety Jahdae Barron, which had brought the crowd to their feet.
Fans then began throwing water bottles and trash on to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The SEC fined Texas $250,000 and now, Texas is tasked with finding the fans responsible and banning them!
Referees ended up reversing the call, but by then, the damage had already been done!
McConaughey, who is a die-hard Longhorns fan, and was at the game, did not think that was "alright alright alright", and is now telling all y'all to be cool by releasing a statement addressed to Longhorn nation, specifically the DKR student section:
I may not know a lot about college football, but I think I know a thing or two about being a Texan, and I'm certain that a lot of people in Texas didn't think this was cool at all; it's not a good look for us!
McConaughey is calling for good sportsmanship at the next game in Texas where the Longhorns will face the Gators. Up next, Texas takes on Vanderbilt on October 26.
