Nostalgia Returns To Texas With McDonald’s ‘Boo Bucket’ Happy Meals
McDonald's will bring back a favorite from my childhood on October 15th.
When I went trick-or-treating way back in the day, my brother and I had the typical plastic orange pumpkins that we would get filled with loads of candy as we went door-to-door saying 'trick or treat'!
There was nothing wrong with those plastic buckets, but they were just ordinary. As I began to outgrow trick-or-treating along comes McDonald's and the 'Boo Bucket' Happy Meal in 1986. Kids could get a meal and then use the Halloween-themed bucket their Happy Meal came in as a bucket for candy from trick-or-treating.
Those 'Boo Buckets' would show up every year at my house while handing out candy at Halloween and then they just kind of disappeared in the mid-2000s. The nostalgic kids bucket made a return in 2022 and again in 2023 and it will be available for a limited time again this year.
Get your McDonald's Boo Bucket beginning October 15th
Boo Buckets 1986 debut
The three original Boo Buckets featured:
- a pumpkin - McPunkin'
- a witch - Witchy McGoblin
- ghost - McBoo
Throughout the years the designs have changed little although in 1990 a bat-themed bucket was introduced. This year's collection will feature monster characters on white, green, orange, and blue buckets.
If you remember trick-or-treating with these buckets you can relive your childhood by picking up a bucket while supplies last beginning October 15th at participating McDonald's locations and instead of trick-or-treating, you can hand out candy from your Boo Bucket.
Or if you're just kid enough - go ring your neighbor's doorbell and trick-or-treat for yourself!
