Dusty is a lonely older Shepherd mix dog that is looking and longing for his final fur-ever family.

Dusty has been with the Humane Society's Pets Fur People in Tyler since October 2022. He arrived at the shelter through no fault of his own. His long-time owner passed away and was left with no one to care for him.

The death of a pet owner can affect an animal. Take a look at Dusty's profile picture. This picture was taken on the day he arrived at the shelter in Tyler, and you can see his confused expression and wondering where his owner is.

He's not always sad, take a look at his happy state!

Dusty is nearly 10 years old. He has received two rounds of training at PetSmart and is house-trained.

His adopted family will need to have at least a six-foot privacy fence around the backyard. He apparently likes to jump!

Dusty will go home with a collar, a leash, and a starter kit of food.

For information on adopting Dusty call 903.597.2471 or check the Humane Society’s Pets Fur People website. Pets Fur People requires a completed adoption application before arranging a meet and greet.

Check out the animals that are available for adoption. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 5 pm - closed for lunch 1-2 pm.

The Humane Society’s Pets Fur People is the only brick-and-mortar no-kill shelter in East Texas. Pets Fur People offers routine vaccinations, except for rabies, to the public for dogs and cats. Follow Pets Fur People on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please be a responsible pet owner - spay or neuter your pets. Donations are appreciated.
