
Nacogdoches Shooting: Second Suspect Sentenced to 50 Years
A second suspect in a Nacogdoches Police Department officer-involved shooting was sentenced on March 28, 2025, according to a recent release to the community on Facebook. The crime occurred on December 29, 2023.
An unnamed officer was fired upon after attempting to conduct a traffic stop at South Fredonia Street and South Street in Nacogdoches. During the stop, the passenger fired multiple rounds at the officer, which he returned.

I have started to get an idea of how many men were in the car by finding the number of people charged in the incident. Now I think there are three since Alexander Rios, a 23-year-old Nacogdoches resident, has also been sentenced to 50 years in jail for his part in the crime.

Not only has Rios pled guilty and been sentenced to 50 years for the crime, he has also acknowledged his involvement in an unrelated aggravated robbery that took place on May 12, 2023, in the 2500 block of South Street.

This is the second conviction in the officer-involved shooting, and both have gotten 50-year sentences. So far, Jose Iraheta, 25, is the only one named in the case and not convicted.

His bond has been set at almost 1.4 million dollars, and he remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail. This one officer-involved shooting could end in three 50-year sentences.

In their Facebook post, they thanked the Nacogdoches District Attorney's Office for their dedicated efforts in putting the case together.
