There Is A Potential For Severe Weather Thru Saturday East Texas
(East Texas) Spring Severe Weather Season Is Here In East Texas
In addition to the four seasons, East Texas also has two severe weather seasons and during this time East Texans from Tyler to Jacksonville to Sulphur Springs to Carthage to Longview to Canton must be weather aware on certain days due to the threat of severe weather.
Our weather can go from sunny and gorgeous to cloudy and dark in a matter of minutes and cause all kinds of chaos due to the threats of high winds, flash flooding, hail, and tornadoes.
A Severe Weather Risk Exists For East Texas
That is a real situation for us beginning Wednesday morning and lasting through Saturday. Our weather partners at KLTV have declared First Alert Weather days for these days for the possibility of strong thunderstorms capable of producing high winds, large hail, and the potential of tornadoes.
Chief Meteorologist Katie Vossler says these storms will come in waves and could begin as early as Wednesday morning and have the potential of more developing by the afternoon. This pattern will continue for Thursday and Friday as storms develop out to our west and move into East Texas.

Potential modes of expected severe weather
Any storm that moves through the area could produce:
- large hail
- strong, gusty, damaging winds
- isolated tornadoes
- flash flooding (chance increased Friday into Saturday)
There is currently a stationary front draped across the Ark-La-Tex area down through Central Texas that these thunderstorms will be moving along. As these storms move along the front they have the potential to drop several inches of rain on the area. Because of this, there is an elevated risk of flash flooding from Friday into Saturday.
A cold front will eventually push through Saturday night to push out the remaining potential for any additional severe weather and leave behind an extremely nice and cool Sunday with highs around 60.
