After a partly cloudy and very warm and humid Wednesday afternoon, portions of East Texas could experience severe weather.

KLTV 7's Meteorologist Katie Vossler has issued a First Alert Weather Day for Wednesday evening and overnight because of a line of thunderstorms that will be moving through the area. Because of these potential thunderstorms, the Storm Prediction Center has placed the northern two-thirds of East Texas under a slight risk of thunderstorm development while the southern third us under a marginal risk.

As the storm system moves through, the main threats will be gusty winds with the possibility of large hail along with an isolated tornado. These strong storms will move through late Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning.

Once the system is gone, we'll return to a typical East Texas summer time pattern of very warm and breezy conditions with heat index values in the upper 90's near 100 degrees with a slight chance of an afternoon shower by this weekend.
