Six Flags Over Texas Unveils Plans And Celebrates Its 65th Anniversary Season

(Arlington, Texas) The gates at Six Flags Over Texas will open Saturday, February 28, at 11 a.m. for a monumental season. The original Six Flags is looking forward to a year-long celebration marking its 65th anniversary.

Six Flags Over Texas Turns 65

Six Flags Over Texas officially opened to the public on August 5, 1961. It was the creative vision of Angus G. Wynne Jr. Since then, the premier North Texas theme park has been entertaining and thrilling millions of guests with world-class roller coasters, family rides, entertainment, live shows, food, and lots of souvenirs.

Park Transformations During the Off-Season

Six Flags Over Texas has been going through a transformation over the past couple of months during its off-season. Many buildings and rides have received refurbishments, and beautification enhancements have taken place throughout the park. Park guests are looking forward to the debut of the new giga dive coaster, Tormenta Rampaging Run.

What to Expect From Tormenta Rampaging Run

The new coaster has already transformed the Arlington skyline as the lift hill tops 300'! The new giga dive coaster will break six world records in the entirely revamped Spain section of the park. Tormenta Rampaging Run is expected to open later in the 2026 season.

Classic Rides Receive Major Updates

In addition to the new coaster, the queue lines for Mr. Freeze and Batman: The Ride have received extensive retheming. Many other rides, like El Aserradero, Runaway Mine Train, Silver Star Carousel, Runaway Mountain, and Six Flags Railroad, have received quite a bit of attention over the past couple of months, too.

Anniversary Events and New Entertainment

Six Flags Over Texas is expected to host many anniversary-themed special events and promotions as it celebrates 65 years of thrills, entertainment, and fun.

Guests can expect new shows and entertainment in the fully renovated Southern Palace Theater that will now feature seating over sitting on concrete slab benches.
