A wild police chase overnight that started in Bullard and ended all the way in Tyler came to a peaceful end but not before the suspect took a shot at a Smith County Deputy.

According to a press release from the Smith County Sheriff's Office, a Bullard Police Department Patrol Officer observed a silver Chevrolet Silverado traveling south on US Hwy 69 at an excessive rate of speed. The Bullard Officer initiated a traffic stop on Hwy 69 within the Bullard city limits.

The driver began to evade in the Silverado heading south toward Jacksonville.

The pursuit went into Jacksonville, back into Bullard, and then east into Whitehouse. The pursuit continued north toward Tyler before the driver pulled into an apartment complex at 4400 Troup Hwy in Tyler. The male driver quickly exited the truck and fled on foot.

Smith County Deputies gave foot chase through the apartment complex at which time the suspect suddenly fired one round toward the Deputy with a handgun.

The suspect continued fleeing on foot before forcibly entering an apartment which was occupied by two females and two young children. The suspect quickly exited this apartment unit and was able to barricade himself inside of another apartment within the same complex. Law Enforcement personnel quickly surrounded this unit and gave commands for the suspect to exit. After several minutes, the suspect exited the apartment with the handgun still in his possession. He placed the handgun down and was safely taken into custody by Deputies. The suspect was identified as Jonathan Lizarraga-Romero – 29 of Tyler.

22 Year Old Dayana Briseno Of Tyler Was Also Arrested

Briseno was arrested on-sight for the criminal offense of Hindering Apprehension of a Known Felon. Lizarranga-Romero is facing 2 charges of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant and two additional unrelated warrants.
