‘South Park’ Can Air Its Foul-Mouthed Antics for Three More Seasons
Fans of subversive animated TV shows can rejoice: Comedy Central renewed ‘South Park’ for three — count ‘em — three more seasons.
This means that in 2016 the show will be on for 20 seasons. The only other long-running prime-time animated show, ‘The Simpsons,’ is currently in its 23rd season. That’s a lot for any TV program, though it’s easier for an animated show to be renewed because you don’t have to worry about actors getting older or demanding outrageous amounts of money. It also helps that the show’s creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, also write every episode and voice a lot of the characters.
In a statement, Stone and Parker said, “Comedy Central has been our home for 15 years and we love working there. ‘South Park’ is a blast and we can’t wait to make more.”
‘South Park’ airs Wednesday nights at 10PM.
