At long last, CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery finally commit to a September premiere after delays from January, to May and beyond. The departure of showrunner Bryan Fuller was an understandable setback, but Fuller’s replacements now explain the delays, owing to “artistry and custom craftsmanship,” along with a brand-new bridge.

We’ve waited patiently for months, and CBS is finally rewarding us with a discovery. Star Trek: Discovery, that is, as the network at last confirms a September premiere date for the new TV iteration, along with word of a divided run.

It’s remained an open question at CBS whether the current tenth season of The Big Bang Theory might prove the last, rounding out contracts of its leads, and potentially launching a spinoff. No longer, it seems as a two-season renewal is likely imminent with fresh pay raises for the core cast.

The unveiling of Klingons in Star Trek Into Darkness gave further indication of how modern Trek might expand upon classic alien designs, so might CBS’ upcoming Star Trek: Discovery do the same? An apparent leak from the set purports to show Klingons looking very different than we’re used to, potentially shaking up continuity in the process.
