Teen Retailer Rue21 Is Closing 400 Stores Nationwide Including 3 In East Texas
Yet another retailer is shutting down some of it's retail locations in favor of focusing on more online sales. Teen clothing outlet Rue21 announced via their Facebook page that they would be closing down some 400 under performing stores across the nation and 40 of those stores would be in Texas. The company says in a Facebook post that the move is 'difficult but (a) necessary decision.'
The closing affects three Rue21 stores here in East Texas:
- Tyler
- Marshall
- Palestine
Rue21 will still operate around 700 stores nationwide including those in Longview and Lufkin as well as their website.
This announcement follows a long line of other retailers announcing they were either cutting back on locations or going out of business completely like Macy's, Gordman's, WetSeal, Gander Mountain, RadioShack and others.
