Texans Love Going Out

The amount of times Texans go out to eat each week is a little hard to pin down. One survey puts that number at about 3.8 times per week, while another puts that number at closer to six times per week. Either way, Texans love to venture out into the world for their food, costs be damned!

The Average Cost Of Going Out

According to one survey, the average cost of a meal at an inexpensive restaurant in Texas is $15. I'm going to have to say that even for an inexpensive restaurant, that number seems WAY low. It's still a good number to start with for comparison though.

The Average Cost Of Stay In

Get ready for another shocker, the same website puts the cost of dining in at $3.52 for Texans. Again, I'm going to have to say that's a little low, but will again work for comparison purposes. To do the math, that's $15 for eating out, minus $3.52 for eating in, for a difference of $11.48 (or more than three more in-home meals).

It Gets Worse

Now, let's take the fact that "eating out" in 2024 frequently means having that food delivered. The various delivery services vary, but sometimes when you roll in the fees and tip you're looking at almost twice the cost of your original order.

No Hate, Just Facts

For many people, experiencing new places and new things is the joy they take out of life. Others are too busy to deal with getting groceries, cooking, then cleaning. However, if you're finding your budget a bit stretched, one thing you have to look at is the cost of food prepared out of your home.
