Just over a week into the MLB season at this point and I am happy that baseball is back. The Texas Rangers rivalry with the Houston Astros is going to ramp back up this weekend with a fun series, but are the Texas Rangers one of the most fun teams to watch in baseball?
Top Ten Most Watchable Teams in Major League Baseball
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Baltimore Orioles
- Atlanta Braves
- Arizona Diamondbacks
- Texas Rangers
- Chicago Cubs
- Philadelphia Phillies
- Boston Red Sox
- New York Mets
- Pittsburgh Pirates
How Did This Ranking Come To Be?
ESPN's David Schoenfield does this every year and honestly it's all meant in good fun. Basically every team gets a score from 1-10 in the following categories
- Star power
- Youth
- Baserunning
- 4- and 5-star catches
- 425-plus-foot home runs
- Minutiae
- Bonus
I think most of these speak for themselves except for Minutiae and Bonus. Minutia is ballpark, uniforms, mascots, unintentional comedy, etc. Bonus is anything else he wants to add for a team at his whim. For instance, the Texas Rangers got a minutia score of 2. David said this about the team.
The only negatives here are a lack of action on the bases -- although Carter and Langford will add more speed -- and the antiseptic nature of watching a game from Globe Life Field. The jersey set is pretty bland other than the throwback baby blues.
As someone who does not miss the days of melting at the old stadium. I am thankful for that roof in Globe Life Field every time I go there in the summer. The team did get several bonus points, mainly for the fact they will be a team to be reckoned with once they get healthy. He mentions Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer.
Are the Texas Rangers Disrespected on the List?
Me personally, I would put them above the Arizona Diamondbacks who they beat in the World Series last year. The Los Angeles Dodgers deserve the top spot after scoring Ohtani. Everyone is at least going to be keeping an eye on them. I myself am a Baltimore Orioles fan and are shocked to see them at two. The Braves also deserve a top three spot as well. If I am being honest, Rangers probably deserve the two or three spot.
Baseball season is just getting started and I can't wait for more games.
