Popular Christmas Traditions in East Texas

It’s always fun to see how our friends and neighbors make their own traditions around holidays. Growing up I remember some friends opened all their Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve, but at my house we would beg our parents, and if we were fortunate we were able to open one gift early, the rest were opened on Christmas morning.

The Story Behind “Bag Day”

As I've gotten older and created our own family traditions with my wife, my favorite tradition now is called bag day. Since we don’t have kids, we buy toys and gifts for our dogs Cooper and Gypsy. They can’t open gifts, but they love to put their noses into the gift bags to find their new toys. Which is why we call it bag day!

This tradition started with our dog Koda. He has crossed the rainbow bridge now, but he used to get so excited looking through all the bags.
