The Harry Potter Play is Awesome

By sheer chance, and with a chunk of wedding money spent, I was able to score two re-released tickets to the Sold Out play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child while in London.

As a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, both books and movies, I was thrilled to find available seats for my husband and I on our last day in London. Even though he was not excited about the play like I was, he agreed to go and experience it with me.

He's seen pieces of the films over the years, because I generally watch them when I find them on TV, but he's not really a fan. He tolerates my obsession well. If you have the opportunity to go, beware it's a commitment. The play is performed in two parts.

Part One began at 1:00 p.m., when we attended. We had one intermission, and then it wrapped up about 3:40 p.m. Remember, I said Part One. At this point, everyone must leave the theater, and return for Part Two at 6:30 p.m.

Part Two runs for another couple of hours, also with an intermission. The story? Well, we meet Harry, Ron and Hermione as adults. Harry is married to Ron's little sister, Ginny, and Hermione and Ron are married to each other. Both couples have kids, and one from each family is about to board the Hogwart's Express for their first time.

I won't give away the secrets, because I hope you are able to see how this twisting tale is unraveled on stage. If a trip to London is not in your immediate future, you could always read the script. Rowling released a hardback version the same day the play opened, July 31, 2016.

I took my rehearsal script with me, in the off chance I was able to get it signed by the actors, and sure enough I was able to get a few signatures and photos with them!

'Cursed Child' recently snagged a record-breaking eight awards during the 17th Annual What's On Stage Awards in the UK, "Best Actor in a Play for Jamie Parker, Best Supporting Actress in a Play for Noma Dumezweni, Best Supporting Actor in a Play for Anthony Boyle, Best New Play, Best Set Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Video Design and Best Director for John Tiffany."
