I doubt anyone would be surprised to learn that a city in Texas is one of the best destinations for folks looking to escape the cold during the winter. While we do have some brutally cold stretches in this neck of the woods, winter temperatures are typically pretty mild. 

I don’t know how folks can take those brutal winters up north. I have a couple of friends who live there and love it, but I don’t think I could ever get used to it. I’m one of the coldest-natured people you will ever meet. I’m usually the first person to put on a jacket and the last to take it off.

So, if I lived up north, I would do everything in my power to escape during the winter – even if it was just for a short period of time. I would totally be a so-called “snowbird.” If that’s you, may I recommend an excursion to our state capital?

According to a study by WalletHub, Austin is the third-best warm-weather destination for winter travelers, behind Las Vegas and San Diego, respectively. Not surprisingly, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex was ranked fourth-best in the study. 

The thing about Austin is that not only is the weather nice come wintertime, but there’s also just so much to do there. From great food options to one of the best live music scenes on the planet, the hardest part of visiting Austin is deciding what not to do.
