Do you like a little mystery with your cocktail? I say, why not? You can grab a cold beer anywhere, but how often are you required to present a password to get into a bar?

Thrillist.com put together a list of seven secret bars in DFW in 2016. Here are the three that I personally want to check out.

Let's start in uptown for some history at the Kennedy Room. Looking for a quiet spot to discuss any and everything? This classy, semi-hidden spot is a respite compared to other busy and noisy uptown spots. I'm not sure which craft cocktail to try first, the Sweet Jackie Spritz or the Monroe. Either way, I'm sure to be in for an experience unlike many others in the popular Dallas area.

For a more colorful time, head to Deep Ellum, and venture inside what appears to be the Deep Ellum Candy Shop. In the front you'll experience a fun willy wonka style candy shop, but in the back there is another exciting experience known as Truth & Alibi. Visit their facebook page each week to get the password to enter the swanky space.

Time to head west for another quiet and thought provoking hidden cocktail experience. This time, the bar is found hidden behind books. Thompson's Bookstore is located on Houston St. in Downtown Fort Worth and serves up specialty craft drinks with clever names in an elegant setting. It looks like quirky good fun to me.
