Top Moments in the Dallas Cowboys/Philadelphia Eagles Rivalry
When it comes to two teams that have had bad blood throughout the years. It's tough to not bring up Dallas and Philly.
Keep Scrolling to Check Out Crazy Dallas and Philly Moments
I know for a fact, Eagles fans can make highlights out of Dallas games. So as a Cowboys fan, I have to share some of the best Cowboys moments in this rivalry throughout the years. An Eagles fan can make the highlights for their team, I won't do it.
Roy Williams Pick 6 (2005)
Primetime football for this one and with a six point lead going into the two minute warning. Donovan McNabb throws a game changing interception to Roy Williams who returns it 46 yards untouched for the game winning touchdown.
Eagles Field Goal Blunder on the 4 Yard Line (1997)
1 second left on the clock and the Eagles can kick a field goal for the win. The easy kick...wasn't so easy. Eagles holder Tom Hutton fumbles the snap and then attempts to run in a touchdown. He fumbles the ball, securing Dallas the win.
Emmitt Sets Single Game Rushing Record for the Cowboys (1993)
Back in 1993, Emmitt would set the all time single game rushing record for the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles. He would put up 237 yards on the ground that would stand for several years until DeMarco Murray broke the record in 2011.
Dak's Rookie Streak Continues (2016)
After losing to the New York Giants week 1, Dak Prescott had quite the winning streak going after that. Week 7 another prime time match up in the Philly/Dallas rivalry ended with this one going to overtime. The Eagles left open the player with the 2nd most touchdown catches in Dallas Cowboys history.
Romo Finally Wins a Playoff Game! (2009)
Tony Romo officially became the Dallas Cowboys quarterback in 2006. Once he came in, he put up amazing stats, but never could win a playoff game. That all changed in 2009 when the Cowboys faced the Eagles in the Wild Card round. The Cowboys actually had already beat the Eagles twice this season and many critics were saying, 'It's hard to beat a team three times."
Dallas Clinches the Playoffs for the First Time in the Jimmy Johnson Era (1991)
The first taste of the postseason for the 90's Dallas Cowboys came in 1991 and the team secured that playoff spot with a big win in Philadelphia. This was a day for Dallas defense and special teams. An 85 yard punt return for a touchdown was one of the huge plays for the Boys on this date and secured the Cowboys first playoff berth in six years.
The Witten No Helmet Run (2007)
In a play that would be ruled dead if it happened in today's NFL. This is play that highlights every Dallas/Philly game. The game was pretty much over at this point, but don't tell Jason Witten that. After his helmet was ripped off, he decided to rip off about an extra thirty yards on the ground to secure the Cowboys win in Philly.
Honorable Mention: Drew Pearson Trolls Philadelphia (2017)
This one is not from a game, but come on this is just too fun not to share. Back in 2017, the NFL Draft was held in Philadelphia. Of course every time the Cowboys had a pick, the hometown crowd was going to boo. Drew Pearson let Philadelphia know that it was the FIVE TIME SUPER BOWL CHAMPION DALLAS COWBOYS making their selection.
Whatever happens on Sunday, it will just be another chapter in this historic rivalry.
