Several new Tyler police vehicles will patrol the streets with a new look.

The Tyler Police Department has purchased 13 new 2018 Dodge Chargers and these new patrol units will be outfitted with a new graphics package. These new vehicles will start hitting the streets of Tyler this week!

Tyler Police Chief Jimmy Toler said,

These Chargers will be the first vehicles to sport our new look. The police vehicle is the most visible representation of our department. The last time we made a striping update was in the late ’90s. It’s time to upgrade.”

The new look incorporates the departmental badge, larger 'Tyler Police' lettering for visibility and increase reflectivity. The new patrol units will be phased in over the next three years according to a city press release. The newly purchased vehicles will not only be outfitted with the new graphics package, called striping, but will also include enhanced technology features meant to increase safety and efficiency for Tyler Police officers.
