The Tyler Public Library is in search of new volunteers for the Book Buddy Program.
Volunteers must be passionate about books, children and early literacy. Library Staff will assist in finding appropriate books. They will guide volunteers to sources for rhymes or short songs to share with their book buddy.

In addition, volunteers work with staff at local Head Start programs to coordinate visits with students. Following training, Book Buddies will read with one or more classes each week. The Library requires a nine-month commitment from Book Buddy volunteers.

“Our volunteers are making a lifelong impact on children by making this commitment,” said Youth Services Librarian Linda Gray. “The rewards are immeasurable for our book buddies. They are often paid in smiles and hugs from the children they serve.”
