Drivers along Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler will have to get used to a new traffic light beginning Wednesday, July 6th! The lights and poles have been up at this intersection for months but have remained dark, but that is going to change tomorrow. The newly redesigned and renamed intersection is along Old Jacksonville's south end toward Gresham at the old Balsam Gap/County Road 164 intersection. In the intersections redesign, Cumberland Road will now go straight through from Old Jacksonville Hwy. to Paluxy Rd. and Balsam Gap/County Road 164 was turned into a cul de sac dead end.

The City Of Tyler Traffic Department plans on activating the signal ahead of Cumberland Road's opening to acclimate drivers to the change. Drivers along this corridor should be aware of the new traffic control device and be aware that the new Cumberland Road is still not open to traffic.
