The department chair of San Diego State's Astronomy Department seems to think it's some kind of space junk from Japan. He told NBC 7 that it could be a Japanese booster rocket from a space launch back in 2010.

Witness Rebecca Woods of San Marco, California told the same news outlet that she thought it could have been a Starlink launch because of the similar trajectory, but there weren't any scheduled for the date and time.

The American Meteor Society receives hundreds of reports each. They are kept on a public list on their website. If you happen to see something strange in the sky, check their list before you panic. There could be a reasonable explanation that will clear up your questions.

As far as this fireball goes, I'm going to trust that Japanese space junk theory, until any new information comes out...
