The Weeknd Debuts Daft Punk Collaboration ‘Starboy’

The Weeknd is ready for fans to hear the first bit of music from his upcoming Starboy LP — and he's brought along some famous friends.

The record's first single — and title track — is now available via streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify, and finds the Weeknd working alongside helmet-sporting French electronic music duo Daft Punk. As Consequence of Sound notes, it's a collaboration that raised eyebrows at the Weeknd's label, Republic Records; executive VP Wendy Goldstein shared her enthusiasm for the cut in a recent interview, saying, "I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them."

The track's debut arrived alongside the Weeknd announcing the release date for the Starboy LP — which is set to arrive in stores on Nov. 25 — as well as revealing the cover art, which you can check out below.

The album is available to pre-order now through iTunes, where its 18-song track listing remains largely obscured — aside from the title track, the only song title fans can currently see is the third cut on the record, "False Alarm."

News of Starboy arrives a little over a year after the release of the Weeknd's hit second LP, Beauty Behind the Madness, which peaked at No. 1 in the U.S. and spun off the chart-topping singles "The Hills" and "Can't Feel My Face." Stream "Starboy" courtesy of Apple Music below.
