Having A Front License Plate In Texas Is Just Ugly And Cheap Looking

In Texas, the laws surrounding having front plates got blurry in 2012. According to KXAN a revision to the Texas Transportation Code removed the provision for penalizing vehicles without both plates.

That was amended in 2013, but has confused residents about which vehicles are exempt from front license plates since then. You don't have to have both plates if you drive the following:

  • Road Tractors
  • Motorcycles
  • Trailers
  • Semitrailers
  • Antique Vehicles
  • Former Military Vehicles

People Without Front Plates Are Just Willing To Pay The Fine

If they don't like how a front plate looks on their vehicle, some luxury car owners just don't put it on. They might get pulled over for not having it, but in a bigger city, the police generally don't have time to enforce such petty laws.

Small towns are the issue, but even then it's only a $200 fine.
