How to Protect Your Pets During Coyote Season

But this is where you need to be more aware of your surroundings, especially keeping an eye on pets and small children during this time.

Gregg County Game Wardens report that they see an increase in calls this time of year regarding wildlife that is injured by coyotes. If you do find an animal who has been injured, it’s always best to leave it alone.

It’s also common to hear about a coyote going after pets in East Texas. Both dogs and cats have become targets in the past so be careful.

Also, don’t leave food or water bowls outside if you let your pets run loose, as that can attract unwanted guests.

And a reminder that even with a fence, coyotes are known to jump six to eight feet in the air.

Make sure you’re doing everything possible to keep your pets and family safe. If you deal with any issues regarding coyotes, be sure to report that to local game wardens.
