Brutal Wind Chills To Hit Texas: What You Need To Know
I am not a fan of the brutal cold, and it looks like I'll be unhappy midweek.
The latest Polar Vortex is barreling southward toward Texas, bringing dangerous wind chills and some of the coldest temperatures in over a month.
Extreme Cold Alerts Issued Across Texas
The National Weather Service has issued Extreme Cold Warnings, Cold Weather Advisories, and Extrememe Cold Watches for more than 58 million Americans from the U.S.-Canada border all the way south to the Texas Hill Country.
Extreme Cold Watch Will Be Effect For Portions Of Texas
This watch covers North Central Texas, Central Texas, and parts of East Texas, including Delta, Hopkins, and Kaufman Counties. Wind chills could drop as low as -10°F, making conditions dangerously cold.
This watch is in effect Tuesday evening through Thursday morning. If proper precautions are not taken, then hypothermia or frost bite can set in on exposed skin. During this time, you'll want to make sure you're dressed in layers and are protecting your face and eyes too.

When will the Polar Vortex arrive in East Texas?
The major cold front is expected to move through the area on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. While we're expecting rain on Tuesday, it should end before the front arrives and there shouldn't be any travel issues.
Caution should be taken on the roads still as there could be some slick spots from ponding that do not dry out before the temperatures fall into the upper 20s by Wednesday morning.
Once the brutal cold air arrives it will be here through at least Friday. Morning lows will bottom out in the upper teens area-wide Wednesday morning with lower 20s Thursday morning.
The wind chill is going to be brutal in East Texas
Wednesday and Thursday morning some areas could see their wind chill drop into the single digits. Because of the extreme cold, the First Alert Weather team at KLTV has issued First Alert Weather Days for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
