For a year-and-a-half now Peanut has been living in the shelter and under the care of the Humane Society's Pets Fur People in Tyler and he's ready to live out the rest of his life as a free dog either in your backyard, inside your home or a combination of both. He's just tired of looking through the chain link fence gate that's at the front of his kennel.

But that doesn't mean he hasn't enjoyed his time living among other dogs at the shelter. He's grown to enjoy their company and loves to play with them, but he'd leave it all behind to just live with a loving family.

Now with a name like Peanut, you'd think he would be a smaller dog with a golden brown color, but that is far from the truth! Peanut is a six-year-old Labrador Retriever mix that borders on being a medium to large-sized dog.

Pets Fur People's executive director, Gayle Helms says that Peanut also loves the play and attention that comes from older children.

Peanut is leashed trained and hasn't quite mastered being house-broke, but he's worked on it in the past, so it wouldn't take much to teach him and without a doubt, this would be a skill that he could master probably pretty easily.

Peanut will go home with a starter kit of food, a collar, and a leash.  For additional information on adopting Peanut call 903.597.2471 or check the Humane Society’s Pets Fur People website. Pets Fur People requires a completed adoption application before arranging a meet and greet.

Check out the animals that are available for adoption. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 5 pm - closed for lunch 1-2 pm. The Humane Society’s Pets Fur People is the only brick-and-mortar no-kill shelter in East Texas. Pets Fur People offers routine vaccinations, except for rabies, to the public for dogs and cats. Follow Pets Fur People on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please be a responsible pet owner - spay or neuter your pets. Donations are appreciated.
