Your Annual Reminder, The Dallas Cowboys Rowdy Curse is Still Alive
One more preseason game for the Dallas Cowboys this Saturday and sadly the Rowdy Curse still lives on.
What is the Rowdy Curse?
Being a Dallas Cowboys fan you know, it has been several years since the team has won a Super Bowl. Back on January 28, 1996 the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers to win their fifth Super Bowl. At the time, the Dallas Cowboys were considered one of the most successful NFL franchises of all time. The team had been around for over three decades at that point and someone thought we needed to spice things up. So someone came up with this thing.
Rowdy Was Born on August 19,1996
Happy belated birthday to this freak we call a mascot. Now honestly was their some parent out there not taking their children to Cowboys games because we didn't have a mascot? Was some Karen saying, "FINALLY we can take Billy to a game so he can take a picture with a mascot." Not one f***ing fan ever complained about a mascot not existing for the Cowboys.
The Curse of Rowdy
Since this thing has been running up and down the sidelines, the Cowboys have not done anything in the playoffs. Hell I mentioned the Super Bowl earlier, the Cowboys have not even APPEARED in a NFC Championship game since Rowdy was created. Rowdy's playoff record currently sits at 5-13.
If a coach had a 5-13 playoff record for the Cowboys, Jerry Jones would fire his ass in two seconds. According to reports, Rowdy is the highest paid mascot in the NFL making $65,000 a year. WHY?! Fire his ass and give the cheerleaders a raise.
We need to go back to the day when the Cowboys fans were the unofficial mascots of the team. R.I.P. to Crazy Ray who many consider the mascot of the Cowboys for years. He actually got the crowd fired up at games. Rowdy wishes he could be just half as cool as Crazy Ray.
