Fireworks and cookouts are both a part of our Fourth of July celebrations as we celebrate our nation's independence.

If you're looking for a fireworks show or a festival to head to this Fourth of July, you won't have to go too far because they're happening all over East Texas!

Here are some of the major Fourth of July celebrations in our area:

Tyler

The City of Tyler welcomes you to the annual fireworks show at Lindsey Park. Gates will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. There will be food vendors, live music, kids activities and a free fireworks show after 9 p.m.

Longview

The City of Longview welcomes you to the Fireworks & Freedom Celebration at the Maude Cobb Convention Center on Saturday, July 4. There will be a car show beginning at 10 a.m., and festival activities start at 11 a.m. that include carnival rides, food vendors, contests, parades, live music. The fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Jacksonville

Fireworks will be shot off at Lake Jacksonville on Saturday, July 4 about 9:15 p.m. near the Lake Jacksonville concession area.

Palestine

A free fireworks show is scheduled for Saturday, July 4 at Steven Bennett Park (near YMCA and Story School) on the hill at dark.

Athens

Billed as one of the biggest fireworks displays in East Texas, fireworks will light up the skies over the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center and Lake Athens. The TFFC will offer free fishing on Saturday, July 4 from 4 to 8:30 p.m. The fireworks will be at dark.

Canton

The City of Canton will hold a parade on the square at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 4, before the free fireworks show from the west side of the First Monday Trades Day grounds at dusk.

Mineola

Fireworks will be at dark from the Mineola Civic Center.

Sulphur Springs

Sulphur Springs will hold its annual Northeast Texas Symphony Independence Day Concert & Fireworks Show on Saturday, June 27 beginning at 8 p.m.

Pittsburg + Mt. Pleasant

The Tri-County Independence Day Blast will be held Saturday, July 4, at Broach Park in Pittsburg. The event will feature a 5K run, float and bike parades, kids activities, car show, parachute jump and a fireworks show at dark.

Henderson

The City of Henderson Fourth of July activities will be held at Lake Forest Park with food vendors, kids activities and a band beginning at 5 p.m. with the fireworks show around 9 p.m.

Bullard

The annual Blast Over Bullard will be Thursday, July 2nd at Bullard High School.  A kids parade will begin at 6 p.m. with live music, kids activities, food vendors and the fireworks at 9 p.m.

Gun Barrel City

Gun Barrel City July Fest is a two day festival (Friday and Saturday, July 3rd & 4th) and features carnival rides, live music, parades, kids activities and more plus the fireworks too!
