5 Ways to Make Having a Cold Less Miserable

Nobody enjoys having a cold, especially not during the summer! But these tips might just make having a cold a little more bearable.

If I’m being totally honest, having a cold is one of the worst feelings in the world – especially if it’s during the summer. But who says you can’t live it up while you’re confined to your bed and taking cold medicine like it’s your job?!

Check out my favorite ways to make having a cold less miserable here:

Watch Your Favorite Movies and TV Shows

When I have a cold, I use it to my advantage to catch up on Netflix. LIke this past weekend when I was stuck laying in bed, I watched 3 seaons of 'How I Met Your Mother' to pass the time. Normally, I end up watching 'The Princess Bride' or 'Dirty Dancing' too, because they are just such great movies. There really isn't a better feeling than having time to watch your favorites!

Lots of Feel-Good Food

Everyone knows that soup will make you feel better when you're sick - even if no one can explain why. Smoothies and hot tea are also staples in a sickly diet. Bonus points if you can convince someone else to make all of this for you!

Sleeping For Days

My doctor told me that sleep was the best cure for any cold - and my gosh, I have taken that advice to heart over the years. If it's wrong to go to bed at 8:30 when you have a cold, then I just really don't want to be right.

Being Lazy

Wearing pajamas all day with no shame, convincing your friends or family to take care of everything you need and not worrying about anything except for when to take your next dose of cough medicine - what a life. Talk about relaxing.

Break From Reality

While being sick can sometimes be stressful if you're missing a lot of work/school, but it can also be incredibly beneficial to your life. Everyone needs the occasional break from the real world and all its counterparts. It's nice to not worry about anything for a few days and then come back to work/school feeling refreshed!
