Jeff Evans

I was born and raised in East Texas and started working in radio when I was just 15 years old. I have spent the last 22 years on the air here in East Texas, but have also done work in Dallas, Waco, Lufkin, and Ft. Smith! I graduated from John Tyler High School in 1992 and attended TJC as part of their criminal justice program. I currently live in Lindale with my wife, four kids, and weenie dog “Snickers”. It’s kind of weird for me having a family that big since I grew up as an only child! What do you love the most about radio? I love the fact that now radio is more than just a tuner and a set of speakers. Radio can now be heard around the world through internet streaming and cell phone apps. I also enjoy the social-media aspect of radio where we can truly communicate with fans of the radio station on a personal level. I can look at their Facebook profile and really get to know them! A lot better than just talking to them on the request line! What is your favorite band/ artist/ album? I love all types of music, but mostly rock music. AC/DC, Van Halen, Led Zepplin, Nickelback, etc. My favorite album of all time is Back In Black by AC/DC! Biggest pet peeve? I have a bunch…most all of them have to do with driving. People who don’t use their blinkers, and people who think the center turn lane is an actual driving lane! I also get aggravated when people at the check-out line wait until the cashier is finished ringing up their merchandise until they start to fill out their checks! Besides, who uses checks any more anyway?!?! Hobbies? I love to ride motorcycles. I got my license a few years ago and enjoy going for long country rides around East Texas. It really helps to clear your mind and relax you. I don’t have a Harley yet…but will when I grow up!

Second Annual Aquafest Coming to Lake Palestine for Children With Disabilities

A really cool event is coming back to Lake Palestine for its second year. It’s called an “Adaptive Aquafest” and it gives children and adults with disabilities the chance to experience water skiing. If you are not the parent of, or personally know anyone with a disability, then you may have never thought about the fact that they can’t experience water sports like the rest of us.

In April I posted the story about the East Texas Food Bank and their quest to win Walmart's "Fighting Hunger Together" campaign. Yesterday we received word from officials at the food bank that they were one of 100 organizations selected to receive part of $3 million in grants to fight hunger. The East Texas Food Bank's part of the grant totals $45,000!

A couple of weeks ago you may remember me posting a story about the Nebraska Cornhuskers allowing a 7-year-old cancer patient score on a 69-yard touchdown run. The East Carolina football team had a similar heart-warming moment during their spring game this weekend.

Soon it will be against the law to wear baggy pants in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. The Parish Council passed an ordinance Wednesday night (April 10) that makes it illegal to wear pants below the waist that expose underwear in public. In short, this whatever the police or the court determines to be too much exposed skin.

7-Year-Old Cancer Patient Scores Touchdown for Nebraska [VIDEO]

I'm a grown man, but this video makes me cry every time I watch it. Jack Hoffman is a 7-year-old brain cancer patient from Atkinson, Neb., and the Nebraska Cornhuskers have all adopted him and rallied around him in his fight against cancer. Yesterday (4/6) during their last play in their spring game, they handed the ball off to Jack.

Fox 4 in Dallas is reporting that Josh Hamilton's wife had to call security before Friday's game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
