Once the kids wake up Christmas morning to see what Santa brought them and the newness has worn off, what do you do next? Most major retailers and mom and pop stores are closed for the day, so what is there to do? Catch a movie of course! Christmas day is traditionally a big day for movie ticket sales and new releases and this year there is no shortage of new releases.
If you tried to describe the violent holiday classic ‘Home Alone’ to someone who had never seen it, they might wonder why it’s considered a “must watch” at Christmas time. Watching the precocious, sadistic Kevin McAllister (played by Macaulay Culkin) find new and unique ways to commit assault and battery against two hapless burglars doesn’t sound like something that would teach an impressionable child about why the holidays are important.
This weekend sees a variety of new releases, from star-studded Hollywood action and big-name comedy, to smaller, art-house fare and an animated classic now in 3-D. And that’s not even including next Tuesday’s Christmas openings, which, all combined, makes for a very busy—and very fun—holiday moviegoing experience.
Though they're still working on script, and should start filming shortly - even after releasing a teaser this summer - we only have a small inkling of what's in store for us when 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' hits theaters next year. But now the picture has a release date, and it means only one thing: Will Ferrell is gunning for an Oscar.
Last year, 'The Smurfs' made more money than you'd ever think: $142 Million domestic and $564 Million worldwide. So it's no surprise it's spawned a sequel, which will be hitting theaters in 2013. Great. Now there's a trailer for 'The Smurfs 2.'
Christmas is a week away and it just wouldn't be Christmas if you didn't take the time to sit down and watch the greatest classic Christmas movie of all time: "It's A Wonderful Life". And this year you can watch "It's A Wonderful Life" at Tyler's beautiful Liberty Hall in downtown Tyler.
Director Bob Clark’s classic holiday comedy has a distinction that few family movies can claim: Most people don’t mind watching it over and over again.
This is a very impressive supercut. Not only is it very well edited, it also makes us feel bad about how few movies we saw this year.
Was there ever any doubt that 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' was going to dominate this weekend? Heck, it's probably going to dominate next weekend, too. If audiences embrace it like they did 'Lord of the Rings,' it may even dominate the week after that. The big question now is whether or not Peter Jackson's return to Middle Earth will make a bunch of money, but exactly how many bunches.
Though Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' hit screens mere hours ago, it's already on track to have the highest opening weekend of any picture to open in December. That's right, it's on track to open bigger than 'Avatar.'
At last, what so many of you have been waiting for is here—'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' hits theaters this Friday. It may be a slim week for new releases, but there's at least one more new film to keep you entertained.
