Thousands of East Texas kids will go without a warm coat this winter, that's the sad truth. Through the Coats For Kids campaign with P.A.T.H. though, many kids will have a warm coat this winter thankfully.

PATH (People Attempting To Help) has partnered with Tyler and Smith County dry cleaners for the Coats For Kids campaign that will run through October 31st. If you child has outgrown a coat or jacket you may drop it off at any participating dry cleaners displaying the Coats For Kids logo and they will clean the coat for free and then returned to PATH to be distributed in November. New coats will also be accepted too and you can drop them off at a dry cleaners or at the PATH office on Front St.

When you get a second, take a quick inventory of your kids' closet and see if your child has outgrown their coat and consider dropping it off at one of the following locations of these participating dry cleaners:

  • The Cleaning Company
  • Dry Clean Super Center
  • Hart's Cleaners
  • Lindale Cleaners
  • Regency Cleaners
  • Shannon's Cleaners
  • West Gentry Cleaners
  • Tandem Home Center
  • PATH office

Once all the coats have been collected and cleaned they will be distributed to those kids that need a coat for this winter. Distribution will be held Saturday, November 22nd from 81 - 2p and again on Sunday, November 23rd from 1p - 4p at 3000 N. Border in Tyler (formerly Griffin Elementary gymnasium). To receive a coat, you must register with PATH and receive a voucher. You may register at the PATH office Monday thru Thursday from 8a - 6p at 402 W. Front St. in Tyler.
