If you're looking for relief from the rain in East Texas, it looks like it's going to be a while.

With our year already seeing incredible amounts of rainfall, forecasts have us likely experiencing rain every day through the end of May.

The Weather Channel's forecast shows at least a 50 percent chance of rain in Tyler and Longview through May 31.

According to TylerTexasWeather.com, Tyler has already seen about 30 inches of rain at Pounds Field Regional Airport in 2015. We had just 34 inches of rain in all of 2015. Tyler is on pace for nearly 70 inches of rain this year, while our average is about 46 inches.

The wet winter, early spring and constant rain in May has done enough to lift Texas out of "extreme" drought conditions for the first time since 2010, according to recent media reports. Just 15 percent of the state is in either "moderate" or "severe" drought.

While the rain has been inconvenient at times and parts of the state have experienced flooding, this much water is a welcome sight for our state, especially for farmers. Water storage is also at its highest point in years -- Texas' reservoirs are now at nearly 80 percent capacity.

Another advantage of all the rain is lower than normal temperatures. Don't expect to see temps go above 85 over the next 10 days, and the high Memorial Day (Monday, May 25) is just 75. Of course, humidity has been high as a result of all the rain.

So, keep those umbrellas handy. Do you enjoy all the rain?
