Facebook Message Leads to the Arrest of Convicted East Texas Sexual Predator [VIDEO]
The actions of an alert parent has led to the arrest of a 40 –year-old East Texas man who messaged their 13- year-old daughter on Facebook with some inappropriate comments and requests.
Police in Gladewater were notified about the incident and were able to arrest the suspect after one of the officers acted as the role of the girl through messages on Facebook.
During the course of the conversation Shawn Glidden, of Kilgore agreed to meet and pick up, (who he assumed was the 13 year old daughter), in his truck at around 5:30pm Thursday, May 9, at the Bodacious BBQ Parking lot for the purposes of sexual intercourse.
The area was heavily staked out by plainclothes police officers located inside Bodacious and the Tumbleweed Restaurant with other officers standing by. As Glidden arrived in a white Ford pickup he was surrounded by officers and immediately taken into custody.
Glidden was arrested and charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor, a Second Degree Felony. Bond was set at $75,000.00. The investigation is still in its early phase and much will more will be done to follow up on this case.
Gregg County Jail records indicate Glidden was charged in 2004 with aggravated sexual assault and injury to a minor.
Family members said they knew Glidden from church.
