How To Help The Brave East Texas Firefighters [UPDATE]
Local East Texas Fire Departments in need of supplies. (i.e Gatorade, water, fruit, etc etc). As you know we have many hard working men and women out fighting the wild fires that are endangering lives and destroying everything in it’s path. We have been able to contact a few local area fire departments and have a list of where you can drop off some much needed supplies.
Firefighters in Avinger are in need of the following items: Tube socks, saline drops (NO Visine), saline nose spray, snacks, Benadryl, Ibuprofen, and chapstick. NO water is needed at this time! Contact Susan Young at 903-645-7960 for more information.
Donations can be made at the Tyler Fire Department administration building on Houston Street in Tyler (behind the Rose Garden). Checks can be made payable to: Smith County Volunteer Fire Department Association or the Red Cross
If you would like to help the firefighters in Cherokee and southern Smith County you can donate at the Pct. 3 office on Highway 79 west in Jacksonville.
