She might "never be royal," by Lorde will reign supreme on the 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1' soundtrack. Lionsgate announced today that the Grammy- and Billboard Music Award-winning singer will be curating the soundtrack for the third installment of the popular movie franchise, in addition to recording its first single.

Lorde, who, by the way, is 17, joins the ranks of Coldplay and Taylor Swift, both of whom contributed music to 'Catching Fire,' and if it's anything like that overplayed but catchy as hell "Royals," we're onboard. But the fact that she's also handpicking which artists to include is a surprising move. "Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance," said Lorde in a statement. "I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."

Even 'Mockingjay' director Francis Lawrence is thrilled about the news, saying:

I sat down with Lorde on the set of ‘Mockingjay’ this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film. Her immense talent and keen understanding of 'Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack. I can't wait to share what she's done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable.

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' will be released in two parts -- 'Part 1' hits theaters this November 21, while 'Part 2' drops November 20 of next year -- and stars an incredible cast, including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Jeffrey Wright, Julianne Moore, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Natalie Dormer from 'Game of Thrones,' and Gwendoline Christie from 'Star Wars: Episode 7.'
