Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson have been on the Honda Civic Tour this summer, but the band members of Maroon 5 feel they owe a lot of their success to Kelly.

Both Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5 rose to fame in the same year, 2002. Kelly became a household name on a little show called, American Idol. Since then she has gone on to become incredibly successful, and her success has led the show to continue to produce many stars including, Daughter, Carrie Underwood and more recenly Phillip Phillips.

In addition, the success of the show has led to the creation of more reality talent shows, notably "The Voice." As a judge on "The Voice," Adam Levine of Maroon 5 has been able to reach out and find new fans.

Speaking to The Dallas Morning News, Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine says that he believes if Kelly hadn't become a big star after winning American Idol, they wouldn't be where they are now. How so? "The success of her success opened the door for all those other shows," he explains. "That opened the door for Adam [Levine] to get involved with The Voice and exposed us to a whole new audience, so we owe her a lot."

Since the Voice has been on the air, Maroon 5's popularity has skyrocketed and they have produced great hits like 'Moves Like Jagger,' 'Payphone,' 'Love Somebody' and 'Daylight.'

Let's take a look back at one of Maroon 5's early videos.
