The countdown is on to the opening of the 100th East Texas State Fair!

The countdown is on and soon I'll be able to sink my teeth into some good ole fair food and wrap by fingers around the lap bars of the rides and take in the somewhat pleasant and unpleasant smells in the agriculture building at the East Texas Fair!

This Friday (Sept. 20) will the opening day for the East Texas State Fair. This means that the area of Front Street near the fairgrounds will be loaded with traffic and pedestrians. Here is how you should treat this area during the time the fair is in town.

The risk was just too great, so organizers made the decision to shut down the rides and close the gates to the East Texas State Fair early. The fair had 43,400 people in attendance on Friday and the midway actually broke a record for the amount of money brought in. Fall is officially here, which means that fall events are in full swing! There are a lot of things going on around East Texas this weekend. When the fair rolls around, people get so excited about the rides, foods, and games that they don't always realize all of the other things going on at the fair to get excited about! From competitions to scavenger hunts to concerts, the East Texas State Fair is full of attractions and special events that will appease to anyone.
