Just one day before director Tony Scott tragically leapt to his death off a Los Angeles bridge, Tom Cruise was at the Naval Air Station in Fallon, Nevada doing research for his role in ‘Top Gun 2.’ But with Scott gone, will Cruise and Paramount proceed with their big sequel?
Tom Cruise says he’s ready to get back into the cockpit and reprise his iconic role as Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
‘We’re working on it,” Cruise told MTV News when asked about a potential ‘Top Gun’ sequel. “I hope we can figure this out to do it again.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maverick, Goose and the rest of the ‘fly boys’ will land back in movie theaters in 2012 when ‘Top Gun’ is re-released in 3D.
Top Gun basically launched Tom Cruise's career back in the 80's and now Chinese state run television have reportedly used part of the movie in a news report hyping up their air force. The report that aired features a jet exploding and in the footage, the explosion looks exactly the same as the movie footage - down to the smoke, fire and even the debris flying out of the explosion.
